Abstract

The OIC Fiqh Academy in its resolution 185 issued in April 2009 (The Environment and its preservation from an Islamic perspective) stated the following: After reviewing the research papers presented to the Fiqh Academy on the subject of The Environment and its Preservation from an Islamic Perspective and after listening to the discussion on the subject, it resolved the following: 1. It is prohibited to dump any harmful waste on any part of the Earth and all countries who produce such waste are obligated to dispose of it in their own countries in a manner that does not harm the environment. Furthermore, Muslim countries must refrain from allowing their countries to be places where such wastes are dumped or buried.
