Abstract

This event was organised jointly by the Istanbul Network for Liberty, the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), the Atlas Network of Liberty, the Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) and the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia. Throughout the two-day event, the conference deliberated on a number of crucial themes, namely the history of democratic transitions, the narrative between Islam and democracy, socio-economic currents behind democratic transition, Islamic political parties, religious freedom, radicalisation and democratic fundamentals.
