There is a concern, however, that the professional ethics enunciated in the shariah - Islamic Law - are not properly observed in some instances. There is an urgent need to ensure minimum professional standards in the industry so that the objectives of shariah can be realised. This paper inquires into the professional ethics of Islamic banking and finance with a view to evaluating current practices. A robust approach is taken to provide an analytical and critical assessment of current practices.
