Forum on Understanding the Jerusalem Contention

Abstract

The controversial US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was met with instant international furore and disapproval. Opposition came from all directions, even from long-time US allies, such as the UK, the EU, and the Arab states. The international consensus against the unilateral decision was further reflected in the UN Security Council vote which saw the US stand alone against 14 security member states.
